Consultations
Public and Patient Involvement research
Norfolk LINk has been contacted by PhD student Kath Maguire asking for help from our members with her studies at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry.
Kath has been involved in health research as a lay member of funding panels, as a lay reviewer and as part of a Public Involvement Group in a medical school.
As a result she has become interested in understanding why different people become involved in health service research, which keeps them interested and what may drive them away.
Kath is looking for public and patient representatives who would be willing to complete a survey about themselves and the work they do as part of her research.
To take part, fill in the online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/PPI_in_theory_and_practice_1
Equality and Diversity Consultation
The NHS Norfolk and NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Cluster are consulting on the Equality Delivery System (EDS). The EDS has been designed by the NHS for the NHS, to support the delivery of a service that is personal, fair and diverse.
It will support NHS organisations to drive up equality performance and embed equality into mainstream NHS business. It has been designed to help NHS organisations, in the current and new NHS structures, to meet the requirements of the public sector Equality Duty. The EDS will also support NHS organisations to meet the equality aspects of the NHS Constitution, the NHS Outcomes Framework, Care Quality Commission's Essential Standards, and the Human Resources Transition Framework. The EDS will be a key mechanism through which the NHS delivers it commitment to local transparency on performance, doing so through the active involvement of staff and the public in the setting of objectives and monitoring of performance for equality.
The 90 day consultation period will run until Sunday, 4 December 2011. You can view the proposed framework and then complete the online consultation here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XNB9L95.
Physio and Podiatrist Prescribing Consultation
These consultations concern proposals for physiotherapists and podiatrists to become independent prescribers of medicines. It also proposes that physiotherapist/podiatrist independent prescribers are allowed to mix licensed medicines prior to administration and direct others to mix, and to be able to prescribe independently from a limited list of controlled drugs. This would be achieved primarily by changes to the Medicines Act 1968 and the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001.
The Department of Health recommends that you read the Executive Summary available here: Physiotherapy version/Podiatrist version as a minimum before responding to the consultation questions. All relevant consultation documents are available here: Physiotherapist / Podiatrist, and linked throughout the online consultation for your reference.
